Prof. James Raaj, Director



Prof. James Raaj, MA, M.Phil, NET, SET(PhD) did his graduation from JNRM Port Blair, Post Graduation from Pondicherry University in English Literature and M.Phil from Madurai Kamraj University, Madurai . He passed NET Exam in the year 2000 and subsequently in the years 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has vast teaching experience of more than 15 years in reputed colleges like Loyola College, Chennai, SRM University, Chennai and Agni College of Technology, Chennai. He has written a book Technical English –II for the students of affiliated colleges of Anna University and edited a book Essentials of Humanities for the students of St. Josephs College, Trichy.

10 students passed NET exam last year under his guidance. He has passed NET Exam 6 times and SET Exam 2 times in both in descriptive and objective pattern. He has also conducted workshops and delivered lectures on NET/SET Exams and Civil Services Exams for students and faculty members of colleges such as Loyola College, Ethiraj College, Vels University, Chennai etc. He teaches English Literature, Communication, Reading Comprehension, and Teaching Aptitude for the students of Raaj Academy.   • T.Kumar, M.E

    Mr. T. Kumar, an energetic and passionate quantitative aptitude trainer, with more than 5 years of real time coaching and training experience in competitive exams and engineering placement. He has a rich experience as a Trainer and facilitator and a content developer for competitive exams. At present, he is working as an Assistant Professor in RMK College of Engineering & Technology, Chennai. He has also been a aptitude trainer for SRM group of institution, T.I.M.E and in various IAS Academies. Mr. T. Kumar, who has been coaching UGC-NET aspirants for many years, teaches Data Interpretation, Reasoning and Logical Reasoning of Paper I for students of Raaj Academy.

He appeared in UPSC interview 3 times and later joined as a Professor in Loyola College. He is also the Founder and Director of the popular Josh Academy in Chennai which had produced several successful IAS officers. Mr. Joseph has extensive experience in teaching profession. He is a subject matter expert in the area of research and consulting and teaches Research Methodology for the students of Raaj Academy.


  • Dr.K.Sundaramoorthy, M.E, Ph.D

    Dr. K. Sundaramoorthy, M.E, Ph.D, Professor and Head of the Department of IT, Agni College of Technology, Chennai has been teaching computer science for more than 15 years both in Engineering Colleges and Industry. He has been a Corporate Trainer for database, Core Java, Wireless Network, J2EE Technologies, Web Services. He has published more than 20 research papers in the national and international journals. Dr. K. Sundaramoorthy, who has been coaching UGC-NET aspirants for many years, teaches Information and Communicating Technology of Paper I for students of Raaj Academy.

    Mr. Vijay.     Dr. S. Rajaswaminathan, an intellectual, trainer and HR Consultant, a doctorate in Commerce from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Passed UGC-NET in Commerce in June 2010, UGC-NET Exam in Management in December 2011 and June 2012(both in descriptive and objective pattern) is an excellent scholar and trainer. Besides, he has also completed M.B.A from Periyar University, M.A in Economics from Annamalai University, M.A. (PM&IR) from Alagappa University. Frequently Asked Questions on UGC-NET/SET Exam


1.What is UGC-CBSE-NET Exam?

Ans: On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.

2.What is the scope of the exam?

Ans: This exam is the first step to take towards a career in the field of lectureship and prospects in research. All candidates of Indian nationality, who qualify the NET, become eligible to apply for lectureship in all Indian institutes/colleges/universities and can do PhD if they qualify for JRF.

3.Am I eligible for the exam?

Ans: The candidates should have a Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognised university or institute. The candidates should have a minimum score of 55 percent in their qualifying degree (50 percent for those under the reserved categories). Those candidates who have appeared for their final exams and are awaiting their results and those who are yet to take their exams are also eligible to apply.

4.Could you please tell me about the exam pattern?

Ans: The test is conducted in three phases (one paper in each phase) comprise of mainly objective type questions in three distinct sessions. The first session will be for Paper I (General Paper) which has 60 questions out of which 50 are to be attempted; the allotted time is 75 minutes. Second and third Session will be for Paper II and Paper III (Maters Degree Subject) will include 50 questions (all compulsory) and 75 questions (all compulsory) respectively. The allotted time is 75, 75 and 150 minutes respectively

5.How much should I score to pass Lectureship and JRF?

Ans: To pass Lectureship exam one should get at least 185 marks out of 350 (including all 3 papers) and for JRF 195 and above.

6.Is the NET Certification valid forever?

Ans: Yes, it is valid for ever.

7.How different and difficult is SET from UGC- NET Exam?

Ans: There is no difference as far as syllabus is concerned however SET is comparatively easier than NET.

8.I have scored less than 55 percentages in MA/M.Sc Degree. Am I eligible to write NET Exam?

Ans: Technically, You are eligible to write NET Exam but as far as appointment as assistant professor is concerned, one should have minimum 55% in PG Degree.

9.I have completed UG and PG Degree in Distance/Correspondence Mode. Am I eligible to write the exam?

Ans: Yes.
