Prof. James Raaj, MA, M.Phil, NET, SET(PhD) did his graduation from JNRM Port Blair, Post Graduation from Pondicherry University in English Literature and M.Phil from Madurai Kamraj University, Madurai . He passed NET Exam in the year 2000 and subsequently in the years 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has vast teaching experience of more than 15 years in reputed colleges like Loyola College, Chennai, SRM University, Chennai and Agni College of Technology, Chennai. He has written a book Technical English –II for the students of affiliated colleges of Anna University and edited a book Essentials of Humanities for the students of St. Josephs College, Trichy.
10 students passed NET exam last year under his guidance. He has passed NET Exam 6 times and SET Exam 2 times in both in descriptive and objective pattern. He has also conducted workshops and delivered lectures on NET/SET Exams and Civil Services Exams for students and faculty members of colleges such as Loyola College, Ethiraj College, Vels University, Chennai etc. He teaches English Literature, Communication, Reading Comprehension, and Teaching Aptitude for the students of Raaj Academy. Ans: On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges.
Ans: This exam is the first step to take towards a career in the field of lectureship and prospects in research. All candidates of Indian nationality, who qualify the NET, become eligible to apply for lectureship in all Indian institutes/colleges/universities and can do PhD if they qualify for JRF.
Ans: The candidates should have a Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognised university or institute. The candidates should have a minimum score of 55 percent in their qualifying degree (50 percent for those under the reserved categories). Those candidates who have appeared for their final exams and are awaiting their results and those who are yet to take their exams are also eligible to apply.
Ans: The test is conducted in three phases (one paper in each phase) comprise of mainly objective type questions in three distinct sessions. The first session will be for Paper I (General Paper) which has 60 questions out of which 50 are to be attempted; the allotted time is 75 minutes. Second and third Session will be for Paper II and Paper III (Maters Degree Subject) will include 50 questions (all compulsory) and 75 questions (all compulsory) respectively. The allotted time is 75, 75 and 150 minutes respectively
Ans: To pass Lectureship exam one should get at least 185 marks out of 350 (including all 3 papers) and for JRF 195 and above.
